During the summer of 2007, several UNC campuses joined to collaboratively purchase seats of Elluminate, a synchronous learning management system, which Elluminate hosts. This joint purchase resulted in cost savings and increased seat availability for campuses. If a campus is not using its share of purchased seats, the extra seats become part of a shared pool all campuses can draw upon.
To manage these shared seats, the UNC institutions involved are committed to working together in a spirit of partnership and have created a Memorandum of Understanding to guide the group. These institutions are:
- Appalachian State University
- Learn NC
- North Carolina Central University
- North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics
- University of North Carolina Asheville
- University of North Carolina Teaching and Learning with Technology Collaborative
- Western Carolina University
- Winston-Salem State University
